SAVE SUN SCHOOL

Portland Parks & Recreation is the organization that runs the SUN program at Arleta and it's in trouble! It seems like budget cuts are a hot topic lately, and Portland Parks & Recreation is one of the tax-dependent organizations facing cuts and they have indicated that SUN may be cut next year.

Make your voice heard! City leaders need to hear from community members about what services are valuable to them.

Here's how you can help!

Share why you think SUN is a valuable resource at Arleta:

* Attend a Listening Session with City Counselors. Arleta is in District 3, and their meeting is March 18th from 6-8:30pm at University of Western State, 8000 NE Tillamook.

* Provide written testimony.

Share this information with your friends and neighbors! The more people who speak up, the better!

Día de los Niños - Apr 30

Arleta is celebrating Mexico's Children's Day on April 30th at the outdoor picnic tables. Stop by from 2:30-3 pm to pick up a free book, candy, and/or coloring pages.

Support Students in the Dolphin Dash! - May 2

Dolphin Dash pledge page: https://app.99pledges.com/fund/arletadolph25

We are excited to kick off the 2025 Dolphin Dash!

This fun run is scheduled for Friday, May 2nd.

The purpose of this event is to encourage students to have fun with physical activity, to enjoy participating in a community event that raises funds for their school, to create lasting elementary school memories, and to work together for a common cause.

Thank you for supporting our students! We have a goal to raise $11,000 and your donations make a big difference to our school community! We're collecting donations through May 9th.

Your donations will help pay for:

  • Art supplies to keep kids creative!
  • P.E. equipment to keep kids moving!
  • Fun PTA-led events!

Charlie! School Play - May 15 & 16

“Charlie!” is a vibrant adaptation of Roald Dahl's beloved children's novel, telling the story of Charlie Bucket, a young boy from a poor family, who wins a golden ticket to tour Willy Wonka's mysterious chocolate factory.  The play follows Charlie and four other winners as they navigate the fantastical world of Wonka, where they encounter eccentric characters and learn valuable lessons about greed, kindness, and the importance of imagination.

RSVP your tickets for Arleta's production of student cast and crew, and parent volunteers:

Thursday, 5/15, 6 pm

Friday, 5/16, 6 pm

The play will also be live-streamed at @ArletaTheaterClub on both nights for accessibility.

Know Your Rights - ILRC Red Cards

Know Your Rights, Protect Your Community

with this informational Red Card

Stand up for your rights and help protect your community! The Red Card provides vital information on how to respond when approached by immigration officers. Carry one with you and share with friends and family.

Lead, Join or Volunteer for a PTA Committee

Lead, Join or Volunteer for a PTA Committee

A HUGE thank you to the community members who stepped up to keep Arleta's PTA alive this year!

We still have a few spots where we could use some help.

We need a leader for our Green Team, and could definitely use additional co-chair assistance for Fundraising, Events, Inclusion, Advocacy, Family Engagement or really anywhere your interests lie.

Don't want to lead, just want to be an occasional volunteer? We'd love to know that too! Email arletaschoolpta@gmail.com to get involved

and

THANK YOU!

Collaboration of Parents/Guardians make things happen at Arleta!

Arleta thrives on the collaboration of parents, guardians, students, and staff to make all the great things and events happen at Arleta. This includes you. We'd love to incorporate your voice, suggestions, ideas, participation, and/or leadership to make things happen, both old and new.

Above shows a snapshot of what the PTA stands for, what the PTA hosts/supports, and Committees within it. The flyer also highlights school-facilitated programs unique to Arleta separate from the PTA, as well as PTA partners.

To dissolve the mystery, the PTA is nothing more than a bunch of parent volunteers who want to work together to help enrich the experiences of all our kids and provide opportunities for us to build relationships with one another. By doing this under the umbrella of a non-profit PTA, Arleta is able to tap into assistance, resources, grants, fundraising opportunities, and legal protections that would otherwise be unavailable to us.

Want to learn more? We'd love to talk with you!

Help Arleta Shine by Writing a School Review

Help Arleta Shine by Writing a School Review

Reviews can play an important part when deciding to try a new restaurant or making an online purchase. The same goes for choosing a school for our kids. Parents and caregivers who are researching where to send their child to school pay attention to what others say about their experience.

You can help shine a positive light on Arleta by writing a review on the Great Schools website.
