BUILDING AN INCLUSIVE, ENGAGING & EMPOWERING SPACE FOR ALL STUDENTS, FAMILIES & STAFF AT ARLETA K-5 IN SE PORTLAND
Our annual Dolphin Drive gives our school much needed resources, and helps make our community special! We are asking our community to support the PTA and all it has to offer Arleta by making a donation through our Square site or via check or cash which can be submitted to the front office.
What is the Dolphin Drive?
The Dolphin Drive is the PTA largest fundraiser and we have a goal to raise $8,000. The funds support all our fun free events, special student experiences, teacher grants, student yearbooks, and so much more!
Have your kiddos decorate the dolphin in the Dolphin Drive Letter that came home (or, click here to access it now) and turn into their teacher or the front office. Feel free to decorate as many as you like! Dolphins will be displayed on the waves in the windows outside the office to show our progress towards our $8,000 Dolphin Drive GOAL!
We're eager to resume our BIPOC Family Gatherings welcoming students, parents, and guardians. Come hang out, relax, and enjoy fellow families. Dinner and kid activities will be provided. Please email arletaschoolpta@gmail.com if you would like a translator.
The PPS/PTA Clothing Closet is where PPS students can "shop" for new clothes twice a year when referred by a school counselor. Arleta's next day is on Thursday, October 3th and we need 5-7 volunteers to help families select clothes and sort donations. Please sign up as a volunteer on Konstella for this fun and valuable role, any amount of time is appreciated!
If your family is interested in accessing this resource twice per school year, please contact School Counselors Ms. Aud at aumanansala@pps.net, or Ms. Blei at jeblei@pps.net
Email arletaschoolpta@gmail.com with any other questions. THANK YOU!
Walk + Roll to School Day is a global event that encourages walking and rolling to school on the same day, October 9th! Arleta supports this event as a way to reduce traffic and pollution, support physical activity and safe routes to school.
The Arleta PTA will have some fun prizes to give away from our favorite neighborhood toy store, Hammer & Jacks! This year's raffle will include a Swell cruiser skateboard, a Badge Brightz star light, and some Pep's reflective stickers for your ride.
Students can come to the front of Arleta before the first bell to claim a prize and enter the raffle!
Grab your walking shoes or wheels of any kind, join friends and participate on October 9th!
If you are interested in learning more about the PTA, we invite all grown-ups - parents, caregivers, teachers, and staff - to a happy hour event to meet others and build community. We will highlight the open PTA positions, but mostly will be there to have fun!
Join us on Wednesday, Oct. 9th from 6-7 pm at Smart Donkey Burreria, 3420 SE 50th Ave. This is a no-host event with food and drinks available to purchase. PTA will provide chips and guacamole.
See you there!
STAY CONNECTED AND INFORMED!
Konstella is a new communication tool built for school groups that the Arleta PTA will start using for our school this year, which should make it easier to keep families informed and communicate directly with each other.
Konstella can do all of this in the language of your choice: join social and parent groups, sign up to volunteer, see newsletters and announcements, join committees, get event reminders and classroom communications, file and photo sharing, see calendar of events, send private and group messages, access the parent and teacher directory, view information on your cell phone or computer. Welcome and Welcome Back Arleta Families!
Please check out this Back-to-School Checklist to help you navigate the school year, from Arleta's social media and school web pages, school supply lists, volunteering, contacting the office, enrolling in the school's main communication platform, and more.
Arleta thrives on the collaboration of parents, guardians, students, and staff to make all the great things and events happen at Arleta. This includes you. We'd love to incorporate your voice, suggestions, ideas, participation, and/or leadership to make things happen, both old and new.
Above shows a snapshot of what the PTA stands for, what the PTA hosts/supports, and Committees within it. The flyer also highlights school-facilitated programs unique to Arleta separate from the PTA, as well as PTA partners.
To dissolve the mystery, the PTA is nothing more than a bunch of parent volunteers who want to work together to help enrich the experiences of all our kids and provide opportunities for us to build relationships with one another. By doing this under the umbrella of a non-profit PTA, Arleta is able to tap into assistance, resources, grants, fundraising opportunities, and legal protections that would otherwise be unavailable to us.
Want to learn more? We'd love to talk with you!
The PTA Inclusion Committee (IC) in partnership with parent leaders and SUN host recurring family events every other month during the school year. We hope you can join us!

A HUGE thank you to the community members who stepped up to keep Arleta's PTA alive this year!
We still have a few spots where we could use some help.
We need a leader for our Green Team, and could definitely use additional co-chair assistance for Fundraising, Events, Inclusion, Advocacy, Family Engagement or really anywhere your interests lie.
Don't want to lead, just want to be an occasional volunteer? We'd love to know that too! Email arletaschoolpta@gmail.com to get involved

Reviews can play an important part when deciding to try a new restaurant or making an online purchase. The same goes for choosing a school for our kids. Parents and caregivers who are researching where to send their child to school pay attention to what others say about their experience.
You can help shine a positive light on Arleta by writing a review on the Great Schools website.
Check out the video below of Principal Hawking getting dunked by a student at Field Day last May! Core memory right there 😄
