Dolphin Dash

When: October 2, 2026

What: Dolphin Dash is Arleta's biggest annual fundraiser. For 2026-2027, this kid-favorite event was moved to the fall to kick off an amazing year!

Fall Festival

When: Friday, October 23rd, from 6-8pm

Where: Arleta Annex & Cafeteria 

What: You'll find plenty of school spirit, games, music, dancing, costumes, yummy things to eat, and more at the Arleta Fall Festival. We're dying to see you there, so shake a leg bone and skedaddle on over!

Winter Bazaar

School Play

A school play gives students the opportunity to shine on stage while building confidence, creativity, and teamwork. Ticket sales and concessions help support future theater productions at the school. More details to come!

Spring Bike-a-palooza

What: Hosted by the Arleta Bike Bus, SUN School, and the PTA, the Bike-a-palooza features bike checks, challenge courses, neighborhood rides, and more! 

End-of-Year Jamboree

When: June 3, 2027

What: Celebrate the end of the school year and the beginning of summer with us!

Neurodivergent Family Gatherings

We welcome Arleta families to our Neurodivergent Family Gatherings every two months. These gatherings bring neurodivergent students and their families together to bond over pizza and playing. The group offers a safe space to talk, connect, and play. Pizza dinner and kid activities will be provided.

BIPOC Family Gatherings

Arleta students, parents, and guardians are welcome to join us for our Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) Family Gatherings. The group offers a safe space to talk, connect, and play. Dinner and kid activities will be provided.

Committees

Inclusion Committee

The Inclusion Committee partners with our students, teachers, staff, families, and community leaders to prioritize IDEAS (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Access) Projects and Initiatives include:

  • Sensorimotor Lending Library: gross- and fine-motor fidgets and tools to help students cope with  big feelings and sensory overwhelm more effectively and improve concentration
  • Holiday Food Baskets for families in partnership with our school counselors and SUN Community School
  • Share-a-Toy Donation Drive with items donated by and gifted to families within our community in partnership with  our school counselors and SUN Community School
  • Family Movie Nights bi-monthly from Nov-May
  • Co-host Neurodivergent Family Gatherings in partnership with expert parents  and school staff
  • Co-host BIPOC Family Gatherings in partnership with dedicated BIPOC parents and SUN Community School
  • Annual Halloween Costume & Athletic Gear Swapfest in partnership with the Green Team
  • Emphasizing the importance of translating documents & announcements in all primary languages spoken by members of our communit

Green Team

This group works to reduce waste and create sustainable practices in our Arleta Community.

Projects:

  • Halloween Costume & Athletic Gear Swapfest 
  • Earth Day Electronics Recycling Event 
  • Earth Day Student Pledges 
  • Holiday Light Recycling 
  • Installation of Pet Waste Stations 
  • Installation of Trash Receptacles in collaboration with school administration and the City of Portland 

Garden Club

This group works to beautify our school grounds and educate students about planting & native/invasive species. 

Projects:

  • Community Cares Days- Volunteer community event hosted twice a year to remove unwanted and invasive plants, install new plantings in beds, and replenish decomposed mulch 
  • Garden work parties 
  • Grounds beautification and garden bed planting by our community volunteers throughout the academic year 
  • Poinsettia Winter Fundraiser  
  • Mother's Day flower basket fundraiser 
  • Funding a Garden Educator Educator to wor directly with students in the classroom or in SUN School 

Teacher and Staff Appreciation

This committee works to make sure our amazing staff knows just how appreciated they are! 

Projects: 

  • Monthly Treats in the Teacher/Staff Lounge Teacher 
  • Dinner during Parent/Teacher Conferences 
  • Valentine's Day Treats for Teacher & Staff 
  • Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week lunch & gift baskets 
  • Grant teachers funds for specific projects and experiences aimed to enhance student social-emotional learning and academics
